WATCH: Q&A with Oscar-nominated Kaouther Ben Hania at JICS at the Movies 2024
In January, OISE hosted its annual JICS at the Movies, a ticketed fundraiser that brings our community together to watch a critically lauded film.
The featured movie was Four Daughters, a critically acclaimed documentary 2023 documentary by Oscar Nominated director Kaouther Ben Hania. Ben Hania joined us for a special conversation, moderated by OISE faculty member, Dr. Beyhan Farhadi, an Assistant Professor of Educational Policy and Equity in OISE’s department of Leadership, Adult and Higher Education (LHAE).

About the filmmaker and the film
Four Daughters, This 2024 Academy Awards nominee for Best Documentary Feature skillfully merges documentary and drama to explore the heart-wrenching story of two missing sisters in Tunisia and the grieving family they left behind.
The film competed for the Palme d'Or at the 76th Cannes Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on May 19, 2023. It was released in France on July 5, 2023. It was selected as the Tunisian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards and is nominated for Best Documentary Feature.
About the Muncaster Giving Campaign
Championed by donors Priya Pandya and Rajen Ruparell, the Diana Rankin Muncaster Family Tuition Support Fund Matching Campaign has raised about $115,000 since giving began in November 2023.
