Appointment of Interim Associate Dean, Programs
Dear OISE Community,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Joseph Flessa as Interim Associate Dean, Programs for the period July 1 to August 31, 2023. I look forward to sharing further announcements with you about the Associate Dean, Programs role in the coming months.
Joe is a Full Professor in the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education. His scholarship focuses on urban educational policy and politics, comparative educational administration, and school leadership and policy with an emphasis on leadership practices in Ontario and Latin American schools. He helped develop the First Nations Schools Principals’ Course and is widely regarded as an exemplary teacher and dedicated supervisor. In 2021, he was awarded OISE’s Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award.
Joe’s record of leadership in programs and governance includes service as Chair of the Academic Programs Committee on OISE Council, as a member of the Academic Board of the Governing Council of the University of Toronto, as Program Coordinator of the Educational Leadership and Policy graduate program in LHAE, and as a developer of a range of urban education and educational leadership programs at OISE. With this record of accomplishments, I know that Joe will continue to make important contributions to the OISE community as he works with me and other members of OISE’s senior leadership team.
